My friend has a Speeze fan that he bought to replace his crappy stock fan that he had before. He bought the same Speeze fan that I have, and it usually keeps mine at under 40c or sometimes just above under load. Also, mine is usually rotating at 3200+ rpm. By the way, I have an MSI KT4 Ultra motherboard.

I installed his for him and booted his machine up, and it was still getting 55+ and into the 60s, but it was only rotating at aroun 3000+ rpm, sometimes under 3000. I tried reinstalling the drivers that came with his motherboard, (MSI K7N2-L), and reinstalled the temerature utility, PC Alert 4, to see if it would automatically speed up the fan to compensate for the increases in temperature, but no dice, it stayed the same. Is there a utility out there that you can download to control the fan's rpms more efficiently? Or is there something else? In his manual it says that something called CPUFAN automatically controls fan rom according to the temperature, but I looked for it and could not find it on the cd or on his computer. Sounds like some kind of utility, but I've never heard of it.

Since the fan is only 200rpm slower than yours I think that is a normal variation due to either that particular fan or the voltage from the MB header. You could try hooking to a molex from your PSU and see if it runs faster (or cools better since you won't have rpm monitoring).
The CPUFan is probably accessible in bios.

I looked in the BIOS, and you can moniter the rpm, but can't change anything to do with it.

if your talkin about a cpu fan?? the 200 diff could be just in a diff type of heatsink, a dirty/dusty heatsink.. etc 200 rpms really prob won't make a 15+ temp diff. it sounds like there is more to it than the fan.. what kinda proc, hs.. etc? voltage, speed..

The MSI K7N2-L reads the temps from the CPU diode I believe, I don't know where the KT4 reads from. If the KT4 reads from the socket, the temperatures are probably about the same, just different methods of reading.
