I have a couple of 80mm Panaflo's sitting around. They're probably louder than what you have though...haha. PM me if you're interested.

are you cooling a core 2 duo chip?

The stock hsf for core2duo chips are actual pretty quiet. For the price of that fan+shipping, I bet you could get a stock hsf from the FS/FT forums or ebay. Just make sure you get one with pwm (4pin) control (maybe all of them do?) and one that could handle the heat output of your cpu. The ones with copper core are nice.

yeah, its a e6750, but the insert pins on the stock heatsink broke and wouldn't seat properly so i just bought a cheap replacement. it cools good enough, just loud.

I'd zip tie a quiet 92mm or even 120mm on there. Should be fine if you're not overclocking.

do have you a recommendation for a particular brand and model?

what motherboard is it? Does the motherboard have fan control capabilities?

Most Asus board have something called 'Q-Fan', that controls fan speeds based on thermal load. I'd assume other brands would have similar things.

You can also try SpeedFan to control your fan. Though you might need to put the cpu fan into a case fan fan header. On my Asus board, you couldn't control a 3-pin fan in the 4-pin pwm header, but you could if it's connected to the 3-pin case header.

I am not much help in picking out a fan because I can't really tell how the fan is connected to the hsf from the Newegg pictures. Though I am a big fan of any Scythe fans and jab-tech

The Yate Loon D90SL-12 is cheap but not widely available.

Or the Nexus Real Silent 92mm which you can find pretty much anywhere but costs a little more.

These two fans are almost exactly the same. See here for an explanation.

I've got a MSI P35 Neo2 (not FR). I've used Speedfan before, pretty slick.

I'll see if I can find those Yate Loon Fans. Cheap is good.
