Fan recommendations for CM690

I bought a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme for my Q6600 and I have pretty mush decided that the heatsink is getting the highest cfm fan that I can find (for <$10), which is the Scythe Ultra Kaze. I have no idea what to do about airflow into and out of the case. I want blue led case fans with a high cfm rating, but I have been trouble finding ones with a color that I like.I would like to spend less that $70 not counting the Ultra Kaze and I would like to have fans for the 8 120/140mm slots. If you think that I do not need 8 fan, please tell me. I am assuming that more fans are better as long as the airflow does not get messed up. I am pretty much open to all suggestions as long as the fans will fit the case and are not expensive.

I like the Apevia CF12SL-UBL color, but it is rated at 64cfm.

1. Is a high CFM rating going to have and affect on overall cpu and gpu cooling?
2. What fans would you recommend?
3. Is there anything better than the Scythe Ultra Kaze for <$10?

Have many graphics cards are you using? With a single graphics card you do not need eight fans in that case.

IMO, you would need quite the rig to warrant eight fans in the CM690. My machine runs quite cool with only two of the stock CM fans - one front intake and one rear exhaust. I did however move the third stock fan to one of the top-rear exhaust locations as the upward draft seemed to help cool my GPU with an Accelero S1 installed passively (drop the gaming temps by 6c), but it wasn't necessary. Post the specs for your machine so we know what it is your trying to keep cool.

Also, what are your thoughts on noise? The CM690 has a fairly open design so noise will escape...

Does your front led fan actually push that much air? I put my hand behind mine and there is almost no air flowing. I had a friend to check it out just to make sure.
I don't really care that much about noise because I have already assumed that adding fans is going to make it louder, so I am going to buy a fan controller. I am looking at buying the Zalman MFC1 Plus B.

Well, you can't get that fan any other way - be glad you weren't shopping at Newegg as they charge nearly $20. each plus shipping when they have them. They are definitely worth the $10. each from http://www.SVC.com right now. I'm not using the included controls either...

Besides, when looking for fans for heatsinks and radiators, you should be looking at Vapor's fan reviews in the Air Cooling section of the forums at XtremeSystems.org. The Ultra Kaze and the C-M fans I reviewed will be in the 3rd batch which is due very soon - some tidbits of preview are already posted.

I am still don't like the fact that they are $13 apiece plus shipping, but I like the color and they seem to have the highest cfm rating of any 120mm led fan. They seem like the choice that I am going to make even though my mom will not be happy knowing that I bought $103 worth of case fans.

I am still not getting $9.99 for the price of 110cfm ones, but the double pack of the 40cfm ones are $9.99. Is there a promo code on them?

Sorry, it was still 9.99 when I put one in my basket yesterday and it was still 9.99 when I just checked out. The 9.99 price was a special and has been going for a good while no promo code needed. I guess you missed it, sorry. They'll still be open for a while over on the left coast, maybe you could "social engineer" a couple out of them at the deal price. Tell them a friend of yours just checked one out at the 9.99 price.
. Well, dang it - I wasn't watching the order session and they updated my flippin' order with the new price - crap... :| I have enough of them, I'll wait until they do it again - that'll teach 'em! Sign up for their sale specials flyer and you'll be notified the next time they do that. I've been waiting for the black ones to be on special again as those are what I want in my rig - I'm putting up with the LED ones for now...

Ok, I figured that it was a promo deal. I'll wait for it to come back. I'm going to go ahead and buy the Scythe Ultra Kaze and the Zalman MFC1 Plus B fan controller from Newegg becuase the total shipping is cheaper and the prices are somewhat cheaper too.

Did you see the preview on the Ultra Kaze in Vapor's 2nd fan review thread on XtremeSystems.org? It's on the last page of the thread.

Yes, I saw that it was really loud. I am probably going to still buy it anyway, because it is easier to bundle it with the front bay fan controller and get cheaper shipping.

Not a lot, but with an intake/exhaust configuration and the side panels installed the stock fans seem up to the task. I have no complaints with my CPU, GPU or HDD temps. Of course it would be a different story when your dealing with setups that involve an aggressive OC, multiple GPUs or multiple HDDs.
