Hello everyone,

Just finished my latest build a week ago and everything is running great. Highlights are: Inter Haswell i7-4770K, MSI MPower Max Z87, 32 gigs of DDR3-1600 Crucial Ballistix RAM, 2 Samsung 840-Pro 128GB SSD's, 2TB & 3TB WD Green HD's and MSI GTX-760, soon to be joined by another for SLI action. PSU is PC Power & Cooling Silencer MK. III 850. Nothing OC'ed yet.

Cooling for the CPU is Cooler Master Saidon 120. Right now, there are three fans in the case (all 120mm), one for the radiator and two at the front intake, all Cooler Master stock. While noise isn't too bad, I would like a quieter solution. Case & CPU temps are just fine.

What fans would you recommend to swap out the stock units with a focus on at least keeping the same cooling performance, but with a better noise profile? I'm partial to Noctua from previous experience, but open to other brands.

My last build was 6 years ago and A LOT has changed in the cooling segment...so many choices, I can't tell what fan is used for what purpose.

Thanks for any help or info!

For radiators, its better to have a static pressure optimized fans rather than airflow optimized ones. The higher pressure allows it to push air more efficiently through the dense radiator fins. There's the venerable Scythe GTs but a bit difficult to find as they sell like ice cream on a summer day. Other options are Silverstone AP121/AP122 or Noctua NF-F12.

Noctuas are still number one for fans (same for their price, they're expensive!)

Silverstone AP series are great, they're quiet and have a lot of static pressure, same for the Corsair fans that they released.
