Fan question

I'm hoping some of my fellow Case Modders can answer this one.

I have a Sunon 120mm fan that I plan on using in a fanbus in my new case. This fan has 3 wires on a connection that you typically use in a mobo (red, black, also yellow) and I'm not sure exactly what the yellow does.

I thought that since it is a 3 connection fan, that the yellow might be for fan monitoring as supported by mobos but I don't want to clip off the connector and not use it just yet considering I'm not sure what it does.

Anybody have any experience with this?

The yellow one will send the tach signal to the motherboard and any monitoring software. If you don't want to know how fast your fan is spinning, you can just use the red and black to get the fan working...

That's what I figured. Thanks. I just wanted to make sure they didn't switch the yellow and red on me. Thanks!
