I have a fairly large Cooler Master heatsink. The fan LOOKS like it would be a pretty weak fan (Its not thick at all). I just picked up a fan that is the same size but about 3x as thick, and has a larger motor with thiner but more angled blades. I am sure this fan is capable of more RPM then the old one, and it looks like it moll move more air.

My question is, with the larger motor, will it create a hotspot in the center of the heatsink (Right on top of the core)? I am reasonable certain this is the case, so, would it be bennificial to mount the fan on the side of the heatsink, blowing across? If that is the best way, should I leave the old fan on the sink as well? Should I mount both on the sides and cover the top? Should I mount only the new one on the side and cover the top? Any suggestions?

I have tried that with some limited success, I never covered the top but that might be a good idea. The Japanese have a cool heatsink, but I don't read japanese or I might of tried to order one. Check it out..

ent an e-mail to them. I don't know if they read English, but I put "Radiator Cooler - ???$$$???$$$???" in the subject, along with a question asking the same in the body. I hope they can figure that out :)

OK here is my idea, I recently purchased a Blizzard HS/fan and it has the 27 cfm fan on it and my temp's have been running a little high so I purchased a Delta fan. Now here is my idea, I too have thought about the hot-spot theory and have come to the conclusion that i am going to use some small 1/4 in nut's or something like that but only on 1 side, so that the fan sit's at an angle on the HS kinda like this Blizzard S370-L , I have read a couple of article's lately that have dicussed the dead hot spot in the middle of HS, so I was going to try it and see what happen's :) Delta fan should be here tues :)

LMK what ya think, I might be nutz :p

That sounds like it MIGHT be the solution. Good idea, I had read the review of that HS/F, but didn't put 2+2 together.
