Fan placement help

Just built a new i7 system using a Corsair case. The case came with 2 120mm fans, front and rear. I have a 140mm fan laying around that I would like to add.

Would the most efficient use of this fan be on the top of the case or on the side (over the CPU)? In either position would sucking air into the case be better than exhaust of the air?

The top would be the best. Only caveat would be if the fan moves more air than the 120. If so, it would be best in the back IMO, as it would be a little better at pulling air across the heatsink.

both places same distance from CPU heatsink, what's the difference? Not enough room for 140mm on back fan position.

If the top fan pulls more air than the back or CPU fan, it may interrupt cool air going through the cooler.

But I really recommend you test for youself and see. Part of the fun or building my own computer is trying different ways to see what cools best.
