I have a geforce 3 video card. Since it was a free replacement for my geforce 2 which went dead under warranty, I don't know the exact model #.

It says NV879.0 rev A on it. I have found NV879.0 rev B which is very similar. It's a Visiontek Xtasy 6564 Geforce3 Ti 200 64MB model.

Mine looks like this:

Mine has the same purple heatsink under the fan. But the heatsinks at the top and side are green on mine.

Anyway, the fan is dead. What do I do? Can I continue using it until I get this resolved?

Why are these fans such crap? I have had problems with the fan on other nvidia cards in the past

Well, my GF3 Ti 200 doesn't have a fan, but I put a slot cooler next to it, and it runs OCed 150 -> 250 core and 400 -> 473 memory, and those are a few steps down from what it has done w/ a few visual artifacts.

Can I do an RMA on a card that was an RMA? I had gotten this one from visiontek because my geforce 2 died under warranty.

I obviously don't have a receipt for this one.

My Abit GeForce4 Ti4400's fan died about a year after I purchased the card. I never replaced the fan, but the card's been working fine for more than two years. Maybe your GeForce 3 would do the same?

Anyone else who had a fan die and didn't replace it? Can anyone comment on whether the fan is really necessary?

well since his geforce4 ti4400 ran without a fan urs wouldnt require one....the geforce4 would run a little hotter than ur card so i guess u can just continue running it without one...my old geforce4mx fan died out...i just ran it without one..

Just wondering if you ever replaced the fan... I have the exact same video card.

VisionTek Xtasy GeForce3 TI200.

The computer recently started randomly rebooting and the video was blinking, so last night I opened up my case to see what the problem was. The fan on the video card was dead.

Did you buy a new heatsink? I'm looking at getting the thermaltake crystal orb or maybe the arctic cooler? The problem is I can't find an arctic cooler that works with a geforce3.
