Ok, just got 4 fans for my Chieftec Matrix case...
2xThermaltake Smartfan II
2xThermaltake Smartfan I (don't ask why)

The thermal control for the Smartfan II kinda sucks, so I linked it to the included rheobus instead. Works fine and is quiet.
The Smartfan I, though, is thermal control w/ no rheobus, and it's really really loud compared with everything else.

Two options:
1. Buy 2 new LED fans that are quieter but with less airflow
2. Keep the Smartfan I and buy a fan controller instead.

I don't know, but can you adjust the fan speed of the Smartfan I and II through the 3-pin connector?

Buy two quieter fans. The reduced airflow is insignificant considering the excellent airflow of that case.

You can take a look at Antec Tricool Fans. They have a high/med/low switch, silent when on low and tons of airflow on high.
