So i have an XP-90C heatsink, and i need to decide on a good 92mm fan

right now i have a thermaltake silent cat fan, 21dba (but i measured it at around 26dba) and its supposed to push 52cfm (i dont know how to measure this, but i compared it to a 120mm, both on full speed, and the air hitting me felt the same so)

but should i dump that and get one of these?

VANTEC TD9238H 92mm

(i do have a fan controller, but i dont know if it would even be anywhere near quiet on low).....

or should i just get a Panasonic Panaflo

I definatly need the fan to push enough air that it circulates around the RAM modules......

IMO the vantecs are noisy as all can be. I'm a silence fanatic though. Go panaflo and use Speedfan or a controller for idle times. The pannies push more air than any other fan (120mm, 92mm, 80mm) bar none and while not the quietest out there, are solid units.

Actually, the Delta Fans push the most air out of all the fans. I have a delta fan blowing on my XP-90, not the copper, the regular one. 43C Max load on an overclocked San Diego 3700 at 2.8GHz at 1.5375V. Cool, yes of course. Noisy? Yea, I would say so.

If you don't mind noise, get a delta fan. If you want decent CFM and something quier, I'd get a panaflo. Ordering one just to see how much hotter the CPU gets with a 68.8 CFM Panaflo, versus a 110 CFM Delta.

i guess ill get a panaflo just for good mesure

but the Vantec would be good to have just in case i ever needed to crank up the juice..... but how quiet does it run when its turned all the way down (to the lowest setting)?

Don't even bother. Vantec Tornadoes are the noisiest fans around. If you want cool and noisy, get a Delta. If you want cool and quiet, get a Panaflo. I would recommend the L1A or the M1A.

52 CFM at 26 dbA is doubtful. The panny is 43 CFM at 27 dbA. And there's no beating panaflo's CFM to dbA ratio.
