i posted this on spcr, but noone seems to know (or care) to answer. maybe their just lazy. who knows, but i figure ill post it here now.
-------
im gonna have 3 fans in my case, and price isnt really the object. the thing is i need to get it from newegg (dont ask). if finalised my decision down to: 3 fan-mates (gonna also have to get a bunch of wire adapters and stuff) or the sunbeam rheobus. im leaning towards the rheobus, i was wondering if u guys thaught it was a good one. seems good from reviews.
this is the one im talking about, http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=rheobus
the 28$ one
also, on the rheobus, are there 3 pin connectors or wire connectors? cuz i read a review and it said there were 3 pin connectors (the reviews didnt even say if it was the 20 wat or the 17 wat model). but, on all of the pictures on newegg (17 and 20 wat models) there are wire connectors.

P.S im pretty sure 17 watts per channel is more than enough for a 120mm and 2*92mm L1A's. but im not the sharpest knife in the drawer so help me out

I didn't realize there were different versions of it. I have the one that has 3 pin connections. And btw, you can get it from svc for 19.99. Looks like the one at newegg requires bare leads.

I've tried several rhoebus's and the sunbeam is the best. It can take a maximum of 20 watts per channel, so if you plan on putting the 120mm and 2 92mm on the same channel just figure out their wattage.

The one with 3 pin connections will require you to either make adapters to fit it if your fans have a 4 pin connector, or get something like this

That comment made it sound like that was your intention.

Watts = Volts * Amps
So for a normal 0.1 amp fan, it's only 1.2 watts, so it looks to me like you could put like 16 fans on a channel. IMO that's plenty of fans 😉

I've been using a Sunbeam rheobus in my system for about 3 months. It's been great having so much control over the fans and corresponding noise! I haven't had any heat issues as were prevalent on old rheobuses, but I do notice a faint "chirping" from time to time.

I got mine from FrozenCPU, and it was setup for bare leads. I prefer this setup, since I had to extend the power wires on two of my fans to do the installation, and didn't want all kinds of "extension" adapters flopping around in the breeze! The Sunbeam is a quality product.
