Fan guards. Do i need them?

Do you guys have fan guards inside the case? I'm wondering if I need to put one in there. I have an 80mm sunon in the case but w/o a guard inside.

i use them on the interior of the case to prevent wires from hitting the blades making lots of noise.

i use them on the exterior of the case to prevent stuff from hitting the blades from the outside.

of course, i use filters on my intake fans to prevent a massive collection of dust from entering my pc...

I use them all over outside for the obvious reasons, and inside only on my cpu cooler.

forgot to say also on the psu.

Yea the reason why I was wondering was because a few minutes ago I heard some of my psu wires hitting the inside fan..like "zzzzz". So I opened the box and pushed em back up. Can those fans cut the wire?! That's my only concern. How much are fan guards usually.

JoPalm, yes, fan blades can cut into the insulation of wires. Just think, the fan that was mounted to the Camaro I used to drive was a fan I would not put my hand, tie or any other loose clothing near. While it's a bigger fan than a PC would use, you get the idea. Just my opinion, hope this helps.

If you take the time and effort to neaten your case and all the cables within, you should not have to worry about wires entering fans. Wires should not be in the vicinity of fans either, because they hinder airflow. IMO, only use grills within the case if you want to. Definitely use grills on the outside of the case to prevent curious fingers/pets from getting in. Grills hinder airflow, so use scarcely.

I removed my fan guards. I found that they increased the noise level in the case. I don't think they are supposed to do that but it might be that they just stiffened the fans and let them transfer noise to the case.

Just buy a bunch of zip ties and neaten your cables.

If you have a Delta or any high speed fan inside your case I would strongly recommend using fan gaurds on them; especially if you work a lot in your computer while its on and if you value your fingers.

Well my case is pretty neat right now, Link, only thing though is I don't know how to keep the psu wire stuck to the top of the case. Take a look at the picture. The top left cable you see there, how would I stick it or attach it to the top of the case? Right now it's kind of hanging because it's so stiff. You can see where the psu wire would be hitting the fan there, dropped kind of.
