Fan going bad on Radeon X800 Pro. Need replacement.

I bought a refurb Radeon X800 Pro a few months ago. Today I replaced the loudest fan in my system with a quieter one and I noticed that another fan was ticking. Of course it turned out to be the one on the video card. I took it off and oiled it but it didn't help.

Now I'm looking for something to replace it. I would like to find an exact replacement that I can just put on the stock heatsink and won't be any louder. I'm not overclocking or anything. Also this is in a Shuttle XPC so I can't put a larger heatsink on the card (the stock HS barely fits as it is). Anyone have any recommendations for a replacement fan? I don't mind replacing the whole heatsink if necessary but I can't use a thicker one. I would also like it to be quieter (or at least no louder) than the stock fan. Thanks for any help.

Who did you buy it from? Some dealers give you 90 days on refurbs, but most are just a few weeks to a month.

Or, get in contact with the manufacturer of the card and see if a) they're willing to let you RMA the board (unlikely since it's a refurb) or b) sell you a stock heatsink/fan.

EDIT: if you're willing to mod your case, you can use the Vantec Iceberq 5 or Zalman vf700: http://forums.sudhian.com/messageview.aspx?catid=46&threadid=77707&enterthread=y

I got it direct from ATI and I'm pretty sure it's under warranty but I hate RMAing things (especially just because of a fan). I'll consider it but probably as a last resort. I don't want to mod this case for a couple reasons. 1. I plan to move to a mid tower in about 6 months (after I graduate) and I want to be able to resell it, and 2. I have the shuttle carrying case for it and it wouldn't fit if I made it any bigger.

I'm now wondering if I could maybe mod a fan (like a CPU fan) and make it fit in the stock heatsink. Does anyone know the dimensions of the stock fan?

I'd contact ATI first to see if you can get a replacement fan. The second option would be to contact Sapphire for a replacement since they make the cards for ATI. I don't know of any 3rd party replacements that take up only one slot.

Quite possibly. How much do you want for it? Do you have a picture of it? Mine is also AGP.

Go with the Zalman vf700. It is not limited to one type of card.

Hmm... That's a bit pricey. From the pics it looks pretty small. Would it be enough to cool my X800 Pro?

Edit: After reading some reviews it sounds like it will cool the card but someone mentioned that it takes up the next slot (which I don't have). So can anyone tell me for sure if it will fit (is it any thicker than the stock HSF)?

vf700 It will not fit without mod to a shuttle case.

Buy shinzwei's stock cooler if your card is agp. I'm sure he'll give you a good deal on it.

Otherwise, ATI is going to tell you to send it in for RMA, they won't just send you a new HSF.
