Hey guys... its me again... i have decided not to go watercooling on my rig.. since I move it way too much to have to handle all that water... sooo now i need a HSF that's more quiet than this stupid Volcano 6cu+ *kicks stupid volcano...wannabe hairdryer*

I've heard good stuff about the SVC GC68 or something like that... would it be able to handle the overclocked heat?

How about the PAL8045?

Which one would give me a better cooling for my buck and also quieter? I'm having trouble deciding... thanks!

For that setup an Alpha PAL8045 is overkill. I have a trusty GlobalWin FOP32-1 on my 1 GHz T-Bird running at 1.1 Ghz with an idle temp of 30C and 38C full load. Case temp is 26C. The FOP32-1 has a quiet 26cfm YS-Tech fan on it and can be had for under $20. I've just ordered a SVC GC68 for my Athlon XP 1800+ but I don't think you really need a 80mm HSF for your Duron. Then again, it's cheaper than the FOP32-1.

i would have to say the PAL, but i don't have experience with the rest
the 8045 was easy to install (and i generally suck with installing stuff)
i used a panaflo on it, and am overclocking my 1800 to 1658 (i know its not much, but i'm using a ga7dx)
temperature at load is around 46 right now, and my room temperature is always hot and my case doesn't have good airflow

You should look into the Thermalright SK-6. Its an all copper heatsink and generally comes with a Delta Fan (60mm). The delta fan is loud but you can replace it. Currently I have a XP1800+ at 1610MHz using the SK-6 (and 80mm Panaflo), but I also a SK-6 in my other computer. It is running an Athlon 1.0 at 1.3 at 43C under full load with a YStech(I think that is the brand) fan.

OCModShop review I used a Duron 800 with the stock fan, I didnt overclock it because when I got it on it would change multipliers however it should run fine especially if you get a high powered fan. I am getting one and will retest when its here

A Duron@1000? You don't need anything that great, probably a regular Volcano 6Cu would work (not the + version), or a Volcano 7.
