SVCompucycle has the SLK-800 heatsink for a pretty good price right now. It doesn't come with a fan, though, and it seems to me that the fans SVCompucycle sells separately are mostly case fans. Does anyone have recommendations for good fans for this processor and a good place to buy the fans? TIA.

How loud do you want it?
I pesonally just ordered the SLK-8000 yesterday and will be installing a Sunon 50cfm fan that I purchased from them a few months ago. It is not quiet, but certanly no where near as loud as say a Vantec Tornado.

I have read that 38dBA is pretty much as high as most people want to go. This fan looks fine. Does anyone have any opinions on it? Should it fit an SLK-800?

Is there a difference between a case fan and a CPU fan, or are they the same thing?

I was curious about this fan also, although I was thinking of using it with the SK-7.

i've got that fan on an slk800, it does OK but a better fan IMO is the Panaflo (39cfm model) that newegg sells. its quieter and seems to move just as much air. I have it cooling a Tbred 2400 @2.25GHz. temps at load is 38C. however the fan comes with just bare wires. they do sell fan tails for this fan somewhere but i dont remember where at the moment.

Any 80x25mm fan will fit the slk800, the best bet is to get a three pin rpm sensing model- many boards won't boot w/o the rpm signal. svc offers the variable speed ystech and a nice zalman- try one of those, save on shipping from a different source.... They also have the panaflo L1a fans, very good if you're more interested in quiet than low temps or overclocking... not rpm sensing, though...
