fan filters??

I have a big problem with dust/dirt build-up inside my case. It can get so bad at times that the heatsink will be all clogged up, and there are little dust drifts built up around parts. I clean it out as often as I can with canned air duster, but it's a pain. Are there are kind of fan filters you can get, or make? I've heard old stockings work, but wouldn't that decrease air intake? I'm not running a lot of big fans or anything really, so maybe a better set up as far as intake/exhaust could help. Any ideas??

well, there are no self cleaning filters. so its work no matter wha. best option is room air filter. most effective.

if you must..(fan filters cut air flow)... airconditioning filters at home depot cost like a buck for a large sheet. cut to size, rubber band em on or masking tape or whatever ghetto fabulous method u choose. washable furnace filters also work from my experience.my old case is a rather frightening example theory was that more surface area the filter had, the less resistence. the filters were taped in such a way that they bulged away from the fans. my more normal case now... i put furnace filters onit too. but inside the bezel front where there was already a filter space and behind the side fan with a little masking tape. less noticable.

Sounds good. That's kind of along the lines of what I was expecting. Any good tips on fan setup? 2 in, 1 out; keep it even; or just whatever works? or doesn't it really matter?

even the air flow if you have 3 fans exhausting (including psu) use 3 fans intake.

You want slightly positive pressure (more intake than exhaust). If you have negative pressure then air will be sucked in though every crevice in your case, bypassing the filters.
