Fan Filter

I was looking into getting filter for my fans because I get dust in my system and I have to clean it out once or twice or month. I will be still cleaning out my system, maybe just not as often. I was looking here SVC and notice the filter come in aluminum and steel. Is there a big difference as to one being better than the other. I have a black X-Dreamer II case with the blue LED fans, so dust shows up pretty easily.

Also if there is a better place to get filter, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I thought about that too, but was unsure how to do it. By that I mean, where would I but the pantyhose/filter. Using my X-Dreamer II window fan, would I have the pantyhose/filter inbetween the window and fan, or the pantyhose/fliter after the fan so that it would be window -> fan -> pantyhose/filter.

I get vent filters at Home Depot or Lowe's. They are intended to be used in the heating/cooling vents in your home to reduce dust.

The Lowe's here charged $3 for a pack of 12 filters. They are 12 inches long and about 4.5 inches wide. I cut them into thirds which is enough to make 36 filters for a regular size fan intake.

hahahaha, when I said pantyhose/filter, i ment using the pantyhose as a filter, but cutting it to fit. I have some filter for my HVAC so I may try that and cut them to size as well. However, where should I place the filter, should it be:

window -> filter -> fan

or

window -> fan -> filter

The filter should go on the intake side of the fan. I'd imagine that your window fan is an intake, blowing cool air over the expansion cards. Therefore, the filter would go on the outside of the case.

I've always used these simple things.

When looking at the picture, I did not see any holes in the cornes to attach it with. Are they on the reverse side? If not, how would you attach it to the outside of the window?
