Has anyone seen a noticeable temp difference by having thier fan blown towards and not away on the 8045??

I noticed a system temp dropped when using the 8045 with fan blowing away compared to using other heatsinks with fan blowing towards the mobo.

With heat sinks that have pins (like the Alphas) as opposed to fins (like most others) it's best to have the fan sucking air away from the heat sink rather than blowing onto it. I noticed the same thing with my PAL6035.

don't forget the heat shroud, HSFs with shrouds like the 6035 and the 8045 tend to perform better sucking away.....

There's a maintenance consideration also for pin-type coolers.

If you've run your 8045 for several months, with fan set to suck, you'll probably see a collection of fibers and dust around the the outside bottom of the heatsink. The pins act as a crude comb filter. It's easier to clean the dust/fibers when they're trapped outside the pins than when they're trapped inside.

Hope this helps!
