The fan on my kt7's chipset (3 months old) is on it's last legs and is making lots of noise as the speed changes, will any fan that size do? The header looks sort of funky. I hear it's ok to disconnect it temporarily--I have a tbird 900 running at 900?

Thanks,

Rich

Same thing happened to me. I removed the fan part and just have the heatsink. It seems to be fine and stable. All the other boards have just the heatsink, so I figured it's good to go. I was thinking of replacing it with a blue orb, but I think I would need to do a solder job on the plug or just use a 3 or 4 prong header.

Buy a 486 fan, they are cheap, and the exact same size. If you want, I will send you one for a few bucks.
