fan controller + smart fan II

i just bought myself a vantec NXP-201 fan controller and the thing says to not put any variable speed fans onto it. i have a smart fan II which is variable speed, is it still safe to plug it into the fan controller? its not hooked up with a temp probe or the little knob they give you to control the speed, so techincally it would be just like any other fan and only at one speed. anybody have experience with this?

it is fine just so long as you do not have the fan set up to vary it's own speed. Put the included jumper on the temp. sensor plug and leave off the manual adjuster and it will be fine.
