Fan Controller in 5.25" Bay

HI All,

My upgrade to a silent pc will include the following:

-Antec P180
-2-3 Yate-Loon D12Sl-12 (Same version as Nexus @ much much cheaper)
-Zalman VF700ALCu

Now what would be the best 5.25 controller for these?

Also, will the fan wirings reach the controllers?

I am thinking of running them between 7-12V

What are my options? Zalman, Sunbeam, Coolermaster, etc.

Thanks all! 🙂

I have had great results using the zalman MFC1 Multi fan speed controller....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813999251

1. 6-Channel Fan controller for 5.25"Bay
2. Universal DC fan controller
1) 4 Channels : Speed adjustment of 3-pin connector type DC fan(7W or less) with the Fan speed
control knob.
2) 2 Channels : Two-level (+5V, +12V) adjustment of 2-pin connector type DC fan or other electronic
device with the toggle switch.
3. Easy fan speed check with color/intensity-changing LED-lights
4. 3-pin extension cable for convenient installation - for use when the fan's wire length is too short
to reach the controller

1. 4 Channel - Adjustable Fan Speed Dials
- Maximum Power : 7.0W per channel
- Maximum Adjustable Range: +6.5Vmax (=Vfan(max) - Vfan(min))
- Maximum Voltage Drop : +2.0Vmax (= Vpin(max) - Vfan(max))
- Extension cable length (4pcs): 400mm

2. 2 Channel - Toggle Switches
- Maximum Power : Unlimited, as allowable by power supply capacity.
- Adjustable Range : Maximum voltage output or minimum voltage output.

Over at silentpcreview.com the Sunbeam and Zalman are reviewed.

My prefferance is the Sunbeam. They are both good. The only negative about thr Sunbeam is the uber-bright LEDs, they can be pulled back in thier mounts to lessen the effect.

I have a Vantec PWM unit in the house comp and don't care for it as it only goes down to 7V.

I use Speedfan. Tried the controller and was too much for me....each to their own 🙂....Speedfan is "set it and forget it" (hate that cliche) and thats what I want. No knob turning or forgetting to turn them back up. I have 4 Nexus in a P180 on a Asus A8V Dlx all controlled w/ SF.

Thanks for the replies guys. I read up a tad on them both here and SPCR.

I was leaning to the Zalman...even had it in my cart but I just had to check in!

Now if newegg can ever fix their website I can buy these parts....

SVC.com has had the CoolerMaster Aerogate 1 for $5. and jab-tech.com has had the Sunbeam at $8. hard to beat those prices. Sunbeam is a linear controller which works fine with all fans while the CM is a PWM controller and will probably work best with ball bearing fans.

.bh,.
