Fan Controller and Mobo fan Connections

Hey everyone I need some help. I am putting together a system, but this is my first time using one of those variable fan speed controllers. The controller has 4 variable fans speed knobs. In this system I will have a cpu fan, a hard drive cooling fan, 2 fans in the front of the case, 2 fans in the rear of the case, and then there is the side fan, which is mounted on my case's side panel. On the Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard that I am using there are connections for a CPU_FAN, PWR_FAN, and CHA_FAN. I know the cpu's fan will go to the CPU_FAN connection. What do you suggest I connect to the PWR_FAN and CHA_FAN connection? Should I not use those since I am using a fan controller? I am using a thermaltake fan controller which monitors system temperature as well. I'm guessing I will use the fron 2 fan for intake, and the side and read fans as exhaust. Any input would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

You should probably have the side fan as an intake, just to balance the airflow (remember your psu has an exhaust fan too). As for which to connect to the motherboard, I'm not sure - it doesn't really matter. It'll just mean that the ones connected to the motherboard always run at full power (unless that mobo supports fan controlling, however I think all the ASUS mobos just have Q-fan for the cpu fan. Another option is to buy a couple of fan splitters to connect them all to the fan controller (allowing control of all 7 fans). Not sure if that might overload the fan controller though - it'll depend on how powerful the fans are and how good the controller is.

Just on a slightly side note though, 6 case fans is a bit rediculous imho. 2 fans are adequate, 3 if you're keen, 4 if you want really good cooling, but no need for 6. Especially once you add the psu fan.

thanks for the advice! yeah i am not sure how many fans i will exactly put in yet. i'll put the system together, check what temps i get then decide if i should put as many of not.
