I've tolerated the CPU fan noise on my i3-3225 for awhile, and thought I'd try to just reduce the speed to see how that worked out.
First, I tried the latest version of Speedfan, but every time Speedfan started, Win8.1 would blue screen with a "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL" message on screen.
Also, I tried "EasyTune6," Gigabyte's own utility which includes fan control. The latest version listed on the motherboard download page was B12.1122.1, dated 2012/11/22, but doesn't list Win8.1 as being compatible. I installed it anyway without problem, but clicking on the shortcut for the .exe only results in a progress bar online (repeating twice) as if it's loading, but then nothing. I also tried running it in "Compatibility Mode" for Win7.
I found a later version of EasyTune6 via MajorGeeks: "B13.1211.1, Author: Gigabyte, Date: 04/29/2014 01:30 PM," but it doesn't work, either.
Any other fan control apps that might work? Or, something to tweak to let Speedfan and/or EasyTune6 work?
