fan connectors

I just recieved some fans from "fanorama". Some of them are 3 connectors, others are bare wire. I want to put them on the 4 pin connectors. I know I can buy the 3 to 4 pin connectors, but can I just cut the 3 pin connectors and put 4 pin ones? Is there any guide available on the web.?

you can actually just stripe the end off and connect the bare wire into the 4 pin molex connector, and then just tape it down. 🙂
 
thats pretty much what i do becaus i dont have enough connectors so i just stick the wires wherever i can. but be careful, in my experience, depending on where i have some of the wires connected, i get some drive failures and my computer just stops and i have to manually restart. so i just relocate the wires and have no problems
