I ordered some Yate Loon 120mm fans from FrozenCPU and am a bit puzzled at how I am supposed to plug them in.

There are three connectors on the tail...

1 3-pin motherboard connector
1 Female molex connector
1 Male molex connector

I would like to monitor the fan rotation so I will definitely be using the 3-pin connector but can I also use the molex connector for power? Basically, can I plug in the 3-pin connector to the motherboard AND plug in the molex connector?

Yes you can.

Some PSUs feature this so you can monitor the PSU fan speed.

u use either the 4pin molex or the 3 prong fan connector.

Never both.

What i normally do is clip the molex tail off, and use the 3 prong only, because fan controllers usually have 3 pins.

Thanks for the info however I am still confused...

I am definitely going to be using the motherboard header (which also provides power) but I have six fans and their total wattage is greater than the motherboard fan headers can provide so I was wondering if I could also hook some of the fans up via the molex connectors (and motherboard connector) to lessen to power load on the motherboard.

Logically it seems like doing this might burn out the motherboard header because the molex connector provides far more power than the header. On the other hand it would be too easy to make that mistake so I can't imagine fan companies would make that option available.

Thanks again...
