Fan confusion on my new Epox 8k5a2

Just got my new Epox 8k5a2 and Athlon 1600 XP. Also bought a Thermalright AX-7 with Sunon 50 cfm fan. So I sit down to get started, and whaddaya know but the Sunon fan has a 4-pin connector and the board seems to have a 3-pin connector.

Am I missing something obvious here ... or is the obvious thing that I need a different fan?? I'm not really sure what else to get as the heatsink/fan were recommended by other users here. This is the fan that came as an option with the heatsink. I note on 2cooltech's website that they do have a Sunon 50 cfm fan with a 3-pin connector available separately. Will that work on the AX-7???

I don't exactly shop for CPU fans much. I'm wondering if this is an item I can just run out and pick up at my local computer shop?? Think they'd have one??

Seeking advice (as usual), :)

I don't have much info...but i know what the three pins are:

Two for power and one to measure the rpm.

If it has four hole connector, may be it can run on lower power and is meant for a motherboard with CPU fan speed manipulation.

I am sure you can make it work by cutting out the wires..but make sure first without the CPU in the socket.

Just plug it into one of the 4pin molex power supply connectors and make certain you set the CPU fan speed to ignore in the bios.

Good call " YoDa "

There are some of the 4 pin Molex connectors that do have the single wire - usually yellow - that can go back to the 3-pin header on the mobo
this gives you the power from the P/S string, but allows RPM monitoring. Might have a spare if you need it, I'll check.

Get to Amigos yet? take along the 'LiL 1

Darn, Tribbles again.

LOL, driving 35 minutes each way with the little man is not what I call fun ;) I'll get there with the Mrs. though down the road a bit. Right now we are overprotective parents so we don't like the idea of being that far away if something happened  BTW, my buddy just ordered a KX7-333R, he's a Abit freak like you :p I'll let you know how he makes out with it. He ordered a 1600+ so if he doesn't get a good stepping I'll toss it in my A7N-266VM for sale and give him a good one to juice, I'll make sure to let you know how high he get's it.

Anybody want to bet that he could make it in only 29 minutes - if he doesn't get stopped in Bithlo? Hear that they play Dueling Banjos on the police radio there.

John Force once said: " If you're going real fast and can still turn, you're not going fast enough ! "

Got 2 of the Molex-4 with 3-pin and monitor tail, you need one?
