Hi,

I am planning to get the Alpha PAL8045 heatsink.....But i'm unsure of what fan combination to get with this?
I will be using this with the Athlon XP1900/Abit KR7A-RAID motherboard.....i believe this heatsink will fit this particular
m/board.

To start off with, i dont plan to perform any overclocking and low noise is pretty important. Although in saying this, i will
probably overclock later in the future.

Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Hung

I am using the 8045. It has seemed to me that this HS doesn't need lots of attentin to super-dooper-dulux-hurricane spawing-maxo fan selection :)

(especially if you are not going to be OC'ing it.... Actually, you probably don't even need a new HSF if you are not OC'ing.)

Anyway, I am using a Sunon 40cfm, set-up to suck air away from the sink. I am having good success with CPU Backside temperature
idling at around 43C and loading to around 47 or 48C under maximum loading.

Your results are going to depend upon your system temperature (air temperature inside the case). Obviously, the better ventilated your case is,
(within reason) the more efficiently your HSF will be able to remove heat from your processor.

OK, with all this said:

I suggest a very quiet fan while you are not overclocking. They are so cheap, you can easily spend $10.00 or $20.00 more later to upgrade it to a beefier one
when/if you start to OC your system.

(Panaflo makes a really quiet one... L1A(?) that might be a good place to start)
