Where did you guys mount your hard drives? Vertically on the bottom or horizontally on the upper cage and why?

Most people mount it on the bottom, but a lot of review sites have it on the upper cage. (I'm planning to run 2x 300 gb sata3 and maybe one more 300 ultra IDE laying around.)

Did you guys add or replace any fans and why? Is it neccessary or is stock sufficient? I'm planning to overclock, but I want it as quiet as I possibly can with good speeds.

My Future Specs:

4400+ AMd x2 + stock cooling (probably will replace with artic cooler or big typhoon)
1gb corsair
3 Hard drives
powercolor x850xt
500w Antec Modular

I have one SATA drive in the bottom. However, my mobo only has one IDE connector and I have an IDE optical, so my IDE HDD has to be in top bay. If you use the bottom fan, it would be a good idea to put your drives in the bottom bay so you can vacate the top bay for cable management or air flow if necessary.

P.S.

I had hell of a time with cables since my PSU was non-modular. Tell me how your PSU works out.

I have my HDs in the bottom (they are perpendicular to the case) and I have a fan bringing air into the case right across them. I rarely have more than 3 HDs in a case. I've started using HD enclosures for my HDs. I've add 2 Rosewill 120mm fans to the case to keep everything cooler. I'm looking for a new hsf to put on my CPU to cool that down as well. The stock isn't doing a great job. I just have to be concerned about the hsf size. I don't want it to be to big for the case and one of the new fans is on side of my case.

no mod needed, u don't even have 10k rpm hd's, let alone 15k rpm where u need to worry.

Whats the direction of the airflow? the front fan is blowing in and the back of the case is sucking out?

(All Yate Loon) My plan is to have one fan in the front of the case, blowing pass the harddrive, into the psu and out the back.

One intake fan under the optical drive rack so it blows on the Video Card and CPU. Top and back is the exhaust. What do you think?

I have my Samsung in the bottom cage. Well, actually it's in a Smartdrive 2002 enclosure, and it's laying flat down. The only "available" space for more drives is in the top cage, where I have my Raptor. I don't really worry about placement for hard drives and cooling; unless something is REALLY messed up about your airflow, you can get more than sufficient cooling with an undervolted system fan.
