Any guesses as to when they'll stop. I'm thinking after the 20th kid.

Arkansas family welcomes 18th child, a girl

Thu Dec 18, 8:46 pm ET

ROGERS, Ark. ? An Arkansas woman has given birth to her 18th child. Michelle Duggar delivered the baby girl by Caesarean section Thursday at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. The baby, named Jordyn-Grace Makiya Duggar, weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20 inches long.

"The ultimate Christmas gift from God," said Jim Bob Duggar, the father of the 18 children. "She's just absolutely beautiful, like her mom and her sisters."

The Duggars now have 10 sons and eight daughters.

Jim Bob Duggar said Michelle started having contractions Wednesday night. She needed the C-section, her third, because the baby was lying sideways. Jim Bob said both baby and mother were doing well Thursday night.

"We both would love to have more," he said.

The cable network TLC broadcasts a weekly show about the Duggars, called "17 Kids and Counting." Chris Finnegan of TLC ? which handles public relations for the Duggar family ? said the show's name would be updated to account for the latest addition to the family. He said TLC also will air a show Monday on the baby's delivery.

Jim Bob Duggar is 43, a year older than his wife. Their oldest child, Joshua, is 20.

The other Duggar children, in between Joshua and Jordyn-Grace, are Jana, 18; John-David, 18; Jill, 17; Jessa, 16; Jinger, 14; Joseph, 13; Josiah, 12; Joy-Anna, 11; Jeremiah, 9; Jedidiah, 9; Jason, 8; James, 7; Justin, 6; Jackson, 4; Johannah, 3; and Jennifer, 1.

"Our whole family is excited about Jordyn's addition to our family," Jim Bob Duggar said. "She's just perfect in every way."

I don't know what they get for assistance, but they have a reality tv show going on and it seems whenever they go places they get reduced rates or freebies because the show is being filmed with it.

Ol' Jim Bob is reportedly a pretty successful commercial real estate guy and former state legislator. They don't appear to be on the government dole at all so more power to them.

You are wrong, research them a little before giving the reflexive response.

It stems from their religious believes. The Duggars are conservative Baptists who endorse the Quiverfull movement. As long as they're able to support the family more power to them. I do feel sad for the older children though, having to help out so much.

Is this that family on TV that hunts pretty much all of their own meat? I know there is one that does that and has a crazy number of kids. That saves a TON of $$$.

Think about it, 20 trailers, 20 govt bailouts when a tornado strikes, 2,000,000 bucks for duck and cover. win/win.

Why is it that whenever one of these evangelical religious people has a million kids, they always describe every one of them as a "perfect blessing from God" or something? It creeps me out. Most people, and I'm including religious people (but not the evangelical born-again types), would say something about how it's a handful or how crazy it is taking care of their kids but they love them, or something like that. They sound so brainwashed.

Yeah, the whole "Let's start a baby factory because God wills it" thing is a little weird. That family freaks me out.

Funny to me they just sound happy and at peace with themselves and their choices in life.

I'm more curious how number 18 had to be C-Sectioned. You figure at this point it would be like a greased-up slide.

Wow you guys need to watch the show and quit spewing garbage. They had a whole show dedicated to how they can have 18 kids and be debt free. I was the same as you guys thinking how the hell can they afford 18 kids. They pretty much shop at thrift stores and make their own soap and they are real lean on everything they do. They have several commercial properties that they rent out such as one had a radio tower on it. Funny they have 18 kids and I bet everyone who posted in this has more debt.
