Do you know what a pirate is? He wasn't taken off the set of Johnny Depp's latest movie either.

He could fare far better than that. He'll be touted by the media as a poor child from an impoverished part of the world. He'll be defended by a lawyer paid for by the taxpayers of the U.S. 3 years from now, after the lawyers have sucked every nickel from the coffers, he'll come to trial and after the spin put on by the media, he'll be found not guilty. The spin put on the situation will make it appear that it's all our fault anyway.

He'll be given a home, benefits and a college education courtesy of the taxpayers. Probably a lump some cash settlement too because after all it's our fault. He'll be found dead of an overdose 6 months later and once again, we'll be to blame for that and will pay his relatives to assuage our guilt. Total cost - 18.5 million.

sniper reload and fire again.

total cost: $.87

Too late. It was a huge mistake to bring him back here, they should have just tossed him in a dinghy about a half mile offshore and been done with him since he survived the rescue. Already the mother is demanding that we pay for her to come here for the trial. By the time this circus is over he will be a celebrity and we will be paying for him and his family.

It'll be interesting to see how this turns out. If like you say this happens, pirates will probably be turning themselves in just for this outcome...

Should have released him off the deck of the boat. Saw the news footage of him with all smiles. Asshole.

They should just find the pirate mothership and send a tomahawk up its ass. Navies were created in the first place to defend against and destroy pirates. But now "they're human beings too," so of course we can't punish them.

The world already has way too many people. Those who prey on others are subhuman. He should have "accidentally" received a bleeding, shark-attracting wound and then "accidentally" fallen overboard. Oops.

He gave up a considerable amount of rights when he tried to forcefully take away others rights through piracy.

He isn't getting sympathy from me.

I agree, you have the right to live a decent life and do whatever the heck you want, right up the point where you start infringing upon others' rights. We really need to stop coddling criminals.

they should've just executed him on the spot.
why waste the resources to bring back a pirate.

He was turning his life around. His boss said he'd be promoted to the Caribbean on his next review.
