My dad's been working in Montana and loves his job and it pays really well. We're looking to move out of Washington State. Where's a good place to live? It's hard to find a good place to live in Montana because lots of houses get sold right off the bat to rich people from Seattle or back east as an investment (which is what's happening to my town since it's an hour from Chelan where EVERYONE wants to be for some stupid reason). We just want a place to live...where's a good place?

Missoula, Billings, Helena are your 3 major city centers there that you'd probobly find some housing probobly

My uncle has a place in Kalispell...beautiful...not hermit territory though....he runs a lodge where the rich go to play....and the houses are more like mansions

it is a big state, could you narrow it down? don't you want to live sorta close to where he is working?

My sister/bro-in-law/niece/nephew live in Bozeman, mom lives in Livingston, and pop lives in Seely Lake. I also have many relatives in Helena. I would opt for Bozeman, it seems to be the "hippest" place in MT, which isnt saying much.

BTW, you'd fit right in with all the closedminded, crazy, racist, righty folks up there. Just stay away from the university.

Just you and the pygmy ponies, eh?

Your post is closedminded, crazy, racist, and lefty. Folks from Montana are the nicest I've ever met. I've seen black people in bars hanging out with redneck looking white guys, shooting pool with them, etc. I guess I missed the racism part.

Missoula - liberal. College town - University of Montana. Second largest city in Montana. Access to plenty of lakes/streams/ski areas.

Helena - conservative. Not a lot in Helena itself, but it is a hub to everywhere. Anything you could want to do in Montana is an hour or two away.

Bozeman - moderate. Yuppyish in some parts. College town - Montana State. Decent hub, between Helena, Butte, and Billings.

Helena has the lowest living costs. Everything East of Bozeman can secede into the Dakotas for all I care. Western Montana is where its at. May also want to look at the Kalispell area, very close to Glaciar NP.

Highspeed internet available in every major city, even some of the smaller cities. Verizon has complete Montana coverage.
