link slow as hell to load though

FOX Broadcasting gave Matt Groening two tries at animated series and was amply rewarded with THE SIMPSONS and FUTURAMA. Now Seth MacFarlane, creator of FAMILY GUY, which aired on FOX for three seasons, is creating a pilot sitcom tentatively titled, AMERICAN DAD, according to VARIETY. If greenlit, the series could launch in fall 2004.

MacFarlane plans to provide several voices on AMERICAN DAD, as he did on FAMILY GUY. Helping him create, write and exec produce the pilot are FAMILY GUY veteran writers Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman.

AMERICAN DAD will feature a new animated family, led by a right-leaning CIA agent and his wife, their two kids and a French-speaking goldfish.

Why don't they just do this? I can't understand why FG was ever cancelled.

Where did you swing that, was it used? I would like to have all of them on DVD but 60+ bucks is a bit much.

Seth did an interview about this very thing with IGN. Basically, said that FOX is the only network to successfully launch an animated series, they give you almost complete creative freedom, rarely censor, and most importantly, you have to have a big network to back you financially. $1 mil an episode or so. Not a risk the other media monsters are willing to try.

This RAWKS.

"MacFarlane plans to provide several voices on AMERICAN DAD, as he did on FAMILY GUY. Helping him create, write and exec produce the pilot are FAMILY GUY veteran writers Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman."

It should be at least just as funny as Family Guy is and possibly more. I can't wait.
