Brief history. Truman beat Dewey in 1948 because the polls ended too early. They didn't record the fact that the Republicans in an effort to end price supports for farmers but unwilling to actually vote to end them instead refused to contract for silo's to store the grain. When farmers had a bumper crop and prices collapsed family farmers went to sell their grain to the government only to find that the law said it had to be stored in government silos and there weren't any.

In the 1950's the Republicans became the party that said it was going to support family farms. Into the 1960's and 1970's this was their policy. However, they kept passing laws favoring large farms over small farms. Finally in the 1980's the Republican Secretary of Agriculture announced to small farmers, Go big, or go home.

Now the same thing is happening to the middle class. Despite saying they supported the Middle Class the Republicans have passed law after law screwing over the middle class. In fact, the new Republican policy is, "Get rich or go home"

How could republicans pass laws with a democrat congress from 2006-2010?
How can they pass laws today with a democrat senate and president from 2010-present?

Did you hear that poverty is at all time historic highs thanks to your food stamp president?

And what is stopping you from becoming rich?

The Democratic party stating that you must remain poor and be a leech?

Polls have a specific time to be opened - are you stating that they closed earlier than they were scheduled to.

polling as in opinion polls, not polling as in polling places. opinion polling stopped in september of that year, iirc. opinion polling is not the reason truman beat dewey, but the lack of opinion polls immediately before the election was a major reason that it was a surprise.
