What type of behavior to you have to deal with on a day to day basis with your son KDOG?
How old is he?

My son (8) is extremely non communicative. He doesn't speak, but that is also because he's partially deaf. Its really hard at times, I have to care for him like an invalid sometimes. But hes' fun sometimes too. He loves getting on the computer and going to starfall.com. He loves listening to classical music, anything VeggieTales and playing with cars and trucks. Theres' more to it of course, there are some great resources online if you want to read about it.

...to 2008 operating budget, he shoots, he scores!

I kid, this is great news. Personally I have no experience with autism, but FX's show "The Shield" has given me awareness enough to know that this is a good thing.

My sister is a special education teacher for autistic and severely impaired children, I'm sure she'll be happy about this, thanks for the head ups.

after reading the wikipedia article i'd take a guess that, were i a baby today, they might diagnose me as autistic. i didn't talk until i was 4, and my parents say i was pretty quiet as a baby. dunno if i was demanding toys, following faces, or turning when my name was called.

I KID!!!! I KID!!!!!

At first I interpeted it wrong, and was wondering why families would be happy that Autism Bill died :(
One of my cousins was autistic for the first part of his life, I think until he was 6-8. He was a very heavy kid, and used to get really frustrated that he couldn't talk and express himself... so he'd charge headfirst into walls. They had to get him a helmet.
He's a little slow now, but otherwise is pretty much normal.

as much as this is good news, I'm sick and tired of scientists just lobbying for more money for research. Here @ Scripps, scientists keep leaving doubt and reason for more research so they can continue to recieve grant money. If a researcher is good w/ politics and words, he can get a ton of grant money and be relatively successful. Just sick and tired of listenning to scientists here bickering on who's "right" about global warming and such. It just sounds more like lobbying to get more money :(.

I just hope that the money will go to the most qualified scientists with the most integrity.

Government spending 101
$1 billion to spend on research:

$900 million to administration
$50 million to accounting error
$50 million mysteriously disappears
$20 million to lawyers
$189 milion repay lobbyist
$1 million spent on research
-----------------------------------
actual spend: $1.21 billion
