Fame versus Privacy

Which would you choose?

(Assume the fame doesn't actually pay though it's probably indicative of potential).

Privacy every time. I can't think of anything I would get out of a lot of people knowing who I am that isn't outweighed by no one giving a fuck about what I'm doing.

Privacy > Fame. Fame doesn't always mean lots of money. Madoff anyone? There are probably better examples.

That would make it sting a little less for sure, but not good enough. I'd still have to go through the other 23 hours of the day in misery.

I'd choose fame and then use my money to buy some privacy a la Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and Edward Scissor Hands. That is, buy a mountain villa in Italy, a private beach cottage in North Carolina, etc.

Umm Madoff had a SHITLOAD of money. Fame equals money a hell of a lot of the time.

One could still be famous and still live in private. Take music producers for example, they make beats for artists and are popular among artists, but not so much the general public while still making more money than the actual performers.

So you could be a music producer. Hop into your lambo and on the way to your local Starbucks you won't be bothered when you walk out to grab your drink. On the other hand if you're a celebrity, you could be riding your bike around town and have a mob chasing after you.
