falsely advertized as 144hz? ViewSonic XG2401

Why can ViewSonic advertize this monitor as 144hz when, according to its specifications, it's not.

Why don't lower resolutions have 120hz or 100hz?

Do not set the graphics card in your computer to exceed these timing mode; doing so may result in permanent damage to the LCD display.

Also, how would one go about to do this?

This is a very curious question to ask. It is quite clear from the review that it runs at 144Hz. It uses exactly the same panel as all of the other current 144Hz 24" models. But that is indeed a 120Hz panel overclocked in all cases to 144Hz. This is all handled internally without issue and 144Hz is included as a listed refresh rate.
