the title of this thread is - "The economy is fundamentally sound" - Barack Obama

yet Barack Obama did not state that. the actual quote is "If we are keeping focused on all the fundamentally sound aspects of our economy, all the outstanding companies, workers, all the innovation, and dynamism in this country, then we're going to get through this."

i can not imagine it being acceptable to directly misquote anyone in the title of a thread, let alone the POTUS.

The first paragraph of the linked article says "The economy is fundamentally sound despite the temporary "mess" it's in, the White House said Sunday in the kind of upbeat assessment that Barack Obama had mocked as a presidential candidate."

Except I don't see a quote in the article from Obama saying that.

And?

Responsible for something and being directly quoted as having SAID something are two completely different things.

That's the exact reason that newspapers quote people correctly. If the Press Secretary says something, they don't quote it as if Obama said it.

It's a false quote, placed in the subject spefically to ignite a flame war.

I'm sure you'll eventually get over it.
