Fallout Tactics Demo - eh....

Friend who works at Software Etc. got me the official CD, you can download at www.fileplanet.com or related sites.

Anyway, I tried it out. It's okay.. but it seems very unpolished, even for a "beta" copy. It turns into a very difficult Baldur's Gate 2. Same design, but getting torn to shreads is easy.

Graphics: Nice, very nice. Runs well even on my POS
Control: Seemed a little unresponsive IMO, like delay between clicking and doing
AI: Enemy AI is decent, though they tend to back into corners. Squad AI has below-average pathfinding, preset firing modes are great though

Any thoughts?

FO T: BOS was probably the first taste of any Fallout that I have had. I'm not really used to the turn based system... more used to the Bgate real time. I guess the FO T demo was ok. I guess I just have bad strategy 😉

shadowfaX,

If you like RPG's, you've got to play Fallout 1 and 2. They are, beyond question, two of the finest RPG's ever made. Trust me, even if you're not used to turn-based gameplay, you'll love these games.

Ah... the memories...
Think I'll go reinstall Fallout2 again. BTW, do you guys recall if there were more than 2 endings for the game? It's been too long.

I forget...guess I'll just have to reinstall it, play through a few times and find out. For educational purposes, of course. 😉

I agree, Fallout Tactics is not really a sequal, it's just a strategy/tactical game in the Fallout universe... if you really want to play a couple top of the line RPG's, go get Fallouts 1 & 2, these are 2 of the best RPG's ever!

Fallout 1&2 were amazing. Fallout 2 started with Louie Armstrong singing behind in-game movie designed in the style of the 30's that leads directly into the game..both games were so far beyond normal RPGs its amazing.

Awesome... I hear a lot of rave reviews on Fallout 1&2, but I just haven't had a chance (or at least, not enough money at the time I'm in the store) to pick up the games yet.

shadowfaX, I think I speak for everyone here when I say...

SAVE UP SOME MONEY, AND GET THE GAMES!!! 🙂

I never finished Fallout 2, never played 1. I'd reinstall, but not enough HD space and not enough patience for load times. I'd suggest buying Fallout 2 or buy it from a friend.

I guess I was expecting something different out of Tactics.. it's nice if you have 5 minutes to setup the first kill, but it's mission based, not an evolving RPG.
