So should I play Fallout 2, 3, New Vegas

or just New Vegas

or 3 and NV

Which of those options would give me the most fun per unit time?

AKA the fun ratio

I got lots of games to play and not enough time to play it

At least play Fallout 3 and maybe New Vegas after that. I found New Vegas boring when compared to Fallout 3. But that's just me, others really like New Vegas

Just depends on what kind of games you like.
FO 1 & 2 are both great titles but if you are not a fan of tb combat then you wont like them. FO3 is pretty much just oblivion with guns, so if you like that stuff then it will be right up ypur alley. And NV added a bunch of stuff that FO3 lacked. Things like better writting and more unique levels.

FO1 and 2 are totally different style of games compared to 3 and NV. Great games, but unless you like turn based combat then you should probably just skip them.

If you have 1 and 2, start with those. Or buy them from GOG.

When you get to 3 be prepared for a completely different game style. But its also fun.

gotta disagree with this. FO3 and NV are much more than Oblivion with guns. FO series was far superior (IMHO) because they learned from Oblivion. it was a bit more focused on story, although you could still wander far a field. And the overal quality of the game was greatly enhanced. Plus the atmosphere is quite different. It's like comparing PST to BG series. They feel SO different that they really aren't comparable at all, even though it is the same engine and rules underlying it.

To answer the OP, If you are going to play 2, play 1 first. Just saying. And understand that 1/2 are VERY different than 3/NV. All Excellent games, but not the same in a lot of ways.

There's also a cool mod I'd recommend for Fallout 2. So if you're looking to play F2, try it. It's called Fallout 2 Restoration Project.

I found fallout 1 to be the most fun, but all of them are good games. I am playing New Vegas now in fact, and just finished a playthrough of Fallout 1 about a month ago.

FO3 is an interesting and challenging masterpiece, while NV is wimpy and Linear in comparison, but a ton of fun anyway. So it really just depends what you prefer or are in the mood for. Easy fun or challenging masterpiece.
