FallOut: NV, which DLC should I get?

I just picked up both FallOut 3 GOTY and NV after finally having the time to play them.

I'm already loving FO3 and I'm sure i'll love NV, so, which DLC should I pick up while it's on sale? I'm sure it'll be on sale during the winter sale, but I'm sure I'll be ready to play NV before then and I'd like have some DLC ready for me.

So which ones are the good ones or should I buy them all. Also, how does the DLC work? Do you get new areas opened up, or just new quests/npcs?

I would get all of them. Some are better than others, but they all are tied together, plot wise.

they are all on sale right now for 1/2 off

Yep, and especially since they are all on sale right now for 1/2 off for the next 2 1/2 hrs, the only ones I would hesitate are the two weapon packs which are the gun runners and the courier’s stash. But they are on sale for the next 2 1/2 hrs so may not be so bad to get them

Yeah, I knew they were on sale which is why I asked. I just bought them all as I hate feeling like I'm not getting the whole experience.

Hopefully Skyrim is on sale during the Winter sale and I'll be done with both of these by then 🙂

Too many good games, not enough time!

I asked this question in the Steam sale thread. I didn't have any issue with buying all of them but I figured I'd have lots of content with the base game as it is. One person suggested these above the rest:

Lonesome Road
Old World Blues

also Gunrunner's Arsenal

So I ended up buying those three, the guide, as well as the Courier's Stash. I looked at the Courier's Stash as "I want any extra starting boost I can get". So when I started the game for the first time last night, I got the standard starting items plus the 4 starting item packs from the Courier's Stash. Some look good to use while others were extras I could sell.

Definitely wait for a Steam sale... I picked up all the Fallout NV DLC for ~$12 during the Thanksgiving week fall sale. It's over $45 right now.

Hm. Of the four DLC, the only one I can recommend without doubt is Old World Blues. It was the best of the DLC by a large margin.

The others vary. I like Dead Money quite a bit, but I'm in the minority on that. Lonesome Road wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.

Honest Hearts was terrible.
