Fallout: NV - Hardcore Mode Worth It?

I'm doing my first play through on Very Hard + Hardcore.

Hardcore doesn't add much, and companions going suicide berserker and getting themselves killed is annoying.

At least it should bring back memories of late-game FO1, trying to keep Dogmeat alive against super mutants with miniguns and rocket launchers 🙁

Since I've already been through that, non-hardcore for me.

I played hardcore, albiet on 360. Didn't really find it to be tedious or overly intrusive. Though it might be a bit overwhelming if you haven't played FO3.

At least on the 360 you get some points for your trouble.
