... Is now available, for those of you who hate can't stand DL'ing the game at 12k per second on the day of release.

Cheers.

So we can download the game at 12k per second a few days before the release? :D

Pre-loaded. Seriously considering...*cough* that I might be too sick to go into work Tuesday.

*cough*

Finally looked at some trailers for this...it looks pretty epic.

It also looks like they took a whole lot of cues from the modding community. Hopefully they got a little creative with it, but it's a nice touch regardless.

I probably won't pick it up until there's some kind of a discount...but maybe I shouldn't hold my breath.

Honestly, I wish that all Steam games could be pre-loaded. I guess by doing so would reduce the stress on their servers as everyone goes in for one mad rush the millisecond it launches.

Unfortunately, funds have not been as expected and I've been unable to pre-order New Vegas.

Same here, but its probably for the best. See what the Zero Day issues and bugs are before dropping 50 dollars on it. :p

If news is good, next payday is 27 October.

If they haven't taken care of the stuttering problem that nvidia cards had since after 18x.xx drivers, then I don't want it...it's possible that this is largely on nvidia to fix though.

but this game basically looks like xpansion pack 4 on steroid
even the road textures looks pulled out of capital wasteland
getting ever closer to convincing me that all or most games are suck

All games don't suck but they are lazy. Fallout 3 looked like they didn't tweak the engine at all from Oblivion. It still used the same muddy/low rez textures and same lame art style. I was really hoping they'd tweak the engine but the screens I've seen look almost the same.

This is called consolization. Today's consoles don't have the processing power for the kind of textures that PCs can handle without breaking a sweat.

And by processing power you mean video and system RAM.

Those are part of it, yes. A high end modern video card has more RAM than the entire X360 or PS3. Not to mention that same card has far more processing capability than the X360.

I've got some texture flashing on occasion, other than that it's fine.

The game does look exactly like Fallout 3 though, and the weapon textures are pretty low res. Haven't played enough to comment on game play.

I just bought the disc version. Didn't want to waste my bandwidth. They had a ton of copies in Gamestop. Almost done installing. Then comes the obligatory editing of the .ini file. I damn well know they haven't corrected the multicore bug in the Gamebryo engine.
