In Interplay's latest 8-K filing with the U.S. Government made on April 12, 2007, an attached exhibit 10.49 has more updated information on Interplay's planned Fallout MMOG[9]. Specific requirements were stated in the agreement that if not met, Interplay would immediately forfeit its license rights for Fallout. Neither the filing nor the exhibit specifies any details of how Interplay will start development within 24 months of April 2007 or how it will be able to acquire the minimum financing requirement of US$30 million, seemingly a difficult task for a company in such dire financial straits.

As part of a 2007 quarterly report Interplay CEO Herve Caen said that the company is "focused on securing funding for development of a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) based on the popular Fallout franchise."

Translation: We are waiting for someone to buy us.

Ya, it's going to be awhile. I'm not to worried as I only just recently started playing the first Fallout.

Interplay retained the rights to a Fallout MMO, but sold the rest of the IP (3,4,5 etc) to Bethsoft.

As much as I'd love a Fallout MMO (and believe me, there's probably no world I'd rather play in as an MMO), I have to admit I'm pretty damn nervous about this. The developers most responsible for the Fallout games are both working at other companies now.

The three guys most responsible for Fallout left interplay to form Troika Games (and made the excellent Vampire: Bloodlines game). After the Troika crash, Tim Cain is working on an MMO to be published by NCSoft, and who knows, this could end up being the true Fallout MMO. Leonard Boyarsky is now working for Blizzard.According to Wikipedia, Jason Anderson got hired back by Interplay to work on a non-Fallout MMO, though he may be working on a Fallout game, too.

Of the MMOs farther down the pike (generation after AoC/WAR), I have to say I'm most interested in Tim Cain's game. If you check the Carbine Games website, the company's made up of Tim Cain and some of the original WoW crew from Blizzard. Judging by the pictures, it looks like it'll be some kind of sci-fi game, which is good because I'm getting really, really tired of freaking elves and orcs. Given Bioware's excellent track record, they could definitely put out a really excellent game, as well.

Everyday i told myself, ONE DAY, they will make fallout mmo! and with my hands down, i will play this game regardless of who makes it. I DO hope it isn't another NCSoft, 'set it and forget it' type, and hoepfully someone who wants to make another epic game will take full responsibility and not ruine the reputation of Fallout.

R.I.P TabulaRasa.

Bioware, i am waiting for your sci-fi mmo, (honestly it doesn't have to be starwar) :)

Funcom - I will try AoC just because i was one of those people who won't stop talking about AO for the rest of my life. (had 6 of my rl friends, still talk about Ganging up and dueling in area with tons of exploits)

CCP - Eve (i got to give this to these guys, learning curve is so damn high, it make me keep coming back....) I think Eve had grown in subscription since they started lol, like almost 10years? lol backward but that's what the good game is all about.

Blizzard + Activation = Orc's with guns in FPS?

Valve - Keep cranking out those KILLER FPS games, i do wish to see mmo with source engins, lol, i can already see too much lag

Wow - just read the News Release on Carbine Studio's Website.

Impressive line-up of devs on the team. Hopefully they will develop something OTHER than another freaking Fantasy based MMORPG :)

As for Fallout MMORPG - if it ever is done, hopefully they'll be able to deliver everything that Fallout was [and more] rather than take shortcuts and hurry the product out the door [cough... Tabula Rasa...cough].

Job listing makes me wish I would've kept designing levels... :(
