I see a lot of F3 action in the PC Gaming section, but apparently there are some bugs (I know a patch is already out, but its notes were pretty short). I'm playing this on the 360 and after about 31 hours of play, here are the bugs/issues I've had:

1) Frame rate drop to around 15 FPS occurred once, inexplicably, while in combat with a single Protectron outside. There was very little going on.

2) Twice I've had, while in VATS, the inability to strike anybody; I'll see a 95% hit rating and have a clear shot, but even after multiple shots, the bullets veer off from the target a little and fail to make any contact.

3) Fairly frequently, I may have a 95% chance to hit, but when I actually fire I end up hitting something in front of me, like if I'm behind a boulder or car. This will be on the first shot, too, not the subsequent ones (after which I realize a target can move).

Issue 1) was trivial, 2) was annoying but barely of consequence, 3) is easy to deal with.

I know that when F2 came out for the PC it was nearly unplayable. I believe my younger brother snapped his game disks in a righteous fury, in fact, before the first pack came out, but this game is very polished and works well.

I had an issue where if you pick a "Very Hard" lock, the game stops registering the right stick. The only was to turn around was to get someone on the edge of your screen and talk to them, this would rotate the camera for the conversation. The only way out of that mess is to pick another lock.

System lock or pauses? I do have blips sometimes for a disk read when equipping a weapon in third person view, but it's fairly trivial.

I've had the game freeze on me a couple times. I suppose I'm more understanding of that in giant open-world games than other ones - testing must be an SOB. I also got stuck in VATS once, too.

Save often.

I've had 3 happen to me more than I like. It takes away from the advantage of using your surroundings as a shield. Once I was crouched behind a hand railing, thought I had pointed the gun above the railing, went into VATS and selected a 95% region. Pressed fire and all of my bullets (I was using either the submachine gun or the automatic rifle) hit the stupid 3" thick railing! I decided just to stand up move into the clear and finish the enemy that way.

I have had the game freeze on XBOX once. On Ps3, a handful pauses and framerate dropouts..

I would guess I have about ~15-20 hrs in on each system.

I finished late last week, around 75 hours of time. During that time I had it lockup the XBOX twice. I did have a massive slowdown going into the Deathclaw sanctuary, and one other time. I also had a few incidents where I had a clear line of sight, 95% hit % and not make any contact. It took going out of VATS and re-targeting before I could hit, or just shooting in real time.

One thing that kinda drove me nuts, and I'm not sure if this is a bug or what. But sometimes if you are shooting from just above a wall, or through a window or whatever you will go into VATS and queue up a large fire sequence. Then for whatever reason when it actually shoots it shoots right at the structure you thought you had cleared. What sucks about that is, you can't exit VATS mid-fire so you totally waste all your action points.

I logged over a 100 hours with fallout 3 on my 360 and i think it froze maybe once. Frame rate drop around 1-2 times total.

Yep, that's my #3 and it is frustrating, but now I am sure to clear an obstacle clearly or, if that's not possible, do a test shot to be sure I can hit the target. I believe it should be considered a bug, but really it hasn't caused me any issues since I've started moving away a bit before firing.

Having Fallout 3 for my PC (game looks gorgeous, truly does) and your #3 really really bugs me.

Doing this on Very Hard when there is a Deathclaw around is most unpleasant. My level two toon who had the uncomfortable Deathclaw/Wastelander special encounter faced this down once and hitting your hunting rifle and 3 rounds against a fence when they can take the final slithers of a Deathclaws health is evil injustice.

Those DC's can be naughty, naughty. When possible, I will take jet and get in a few sniper shots from afar, then recharge my vats and do the rest with minigun, but it sounds like a deathclaw/wastelander encounter puts one very close to it.

You guys are really overthinking this. Get the dart gun, shoot the DC with it, and you can kill them with an assault rifle or combat shotgun. I took almost no damage in the DC sanctuary.

On Very Hard, I never got hit by a DC in the DC Sanctuary either....

But on Very Hard at level 2 with a Hunting Rifle and Vault 101 Jumpsuit, missing a couple of shots on a DC due to the problem described above as #3 is lethal to the PC when the DC has finished munching on the distractions (Wastelander).

I have schematics for the dart gun as of last night; so it lets me fire it while staying in a decent state of sneakiness? I've been collecting darts for a long time.

Is there any use to this railway gun? it seems kind of weak. My go-to seems to be the sniper rifle and .44 right now. I have the commando and gunslinger perks, plus the high chance of a head shot perk, so I just take off heads all day long!

Also, rock-it launcher plans are 1100 caps for me--is it worth getting?

I also found it pretty worthless by the time I got it. Maybe if I had picked up more schematics so as to get the v2 and v3 versions...

I never had any use for the railway gun, it was pretty weak by the time I got it. My go to weapon was the Terrible Shotgun. In close up situations you can take heads off with one shot all day long, plus its the only thing that I had good luck with against giant rad scorpions and deathclaws. Anything further away and I switched to the plasma rifle, laser rifle, or for human killing, the sniper rifle.

Terrible Shotgun, damn I can't wait, I've not seen it :)

I find the minigun mostly crap. I have very high big guns and a minigun in great condition appears, even right next to a person, to do less damage than a combat shotgun. My endurance is only 6, but seriously the tyhing is just not the bad ass machine it was in fallout 2.

I've got this game sitting in my mailbox right now, must...get...off...work!!

Question though, I was browsing overthe achievements, do you get most of them through the main quest or are alot of them side quest achievements? I saw a few that depend on your alignment, are some of the achievement quests only available if you're a certain alignment or something?

Most achievements you get from doing the main quest line. Others are just optional quests. There are also achievements for reaching levels 7, 14, and 20 with good, neutral, or bad karma so you can only technically get 3 of the 9 achievements in a single play through. Then there are other achievements for finding places or objects... You gain an achievement for collecting 10 bobble heads and another for 20. You also gain one for finding 100 locations.

Honestly, from looking over the achievements in FO3 compared to a lot of other games, these are some of the most realistically attainable without being a complete slave to the Achievement Lord. You finish the main quest in FO3, and explore a little, you'll get around half the achievements... Play through GoW, and get like 1/10 of them.

I have found only one bobblehead. What's wrong with me? I am level 17 now and the only one I've ever seen is the one in the initial vault.
Also, what's with these garden gnomes, are they of any meaning?

I had found a bit more than that. Still, many of them are in optional locations that you really never have to visit in any of the quests. Use this if you want to know exactly where to go. http://www.wikicheats.com/flas...t3map/fallout3_map.swf

Yeah, that was something I noticed as well, there aren't alot of "outlandish" achievements. Find 20 bobbleheads > find 800 flags strewn around Assassins Creed's world, or 100,000 kills as in GoW 2.

I just used some of the maps and hints online to find them. I ended up getting them all. There is one in particular that if you don't get it when you have the chance, you can't go back and get it later.

I've not cheated yet except for one trivial little bit. I feel I have to check this map, though. I guess I'm halfway through the game and have one bobble head. Sad :(
