Didn't see it posted here.

Press Release
Interview at Gamespy

I'm not sure how to feel. I'm hoping it will be 3D 3/4 (or at least 3D isometric,) but I have a feeling that it will be 3rd or 1st person, which I don't think would work in a Fallout game. Either way I'm just happy there's closure on Fallout's fate.

I really don't know how to take this. I feel bad that Troika almost had the license and was outbid by Bethesda. I feel bad that Morrowind was kind of a mixed bag, and the last game prior to that which could be considered a relevant comment on their ability was eight years ago. They have managed to release a couple acceptable games in roughly thirteen years. I guess I will have to wait and see to pass judgement on Bethesda's release, but the whole slash and burn approach that interplay has been using in recent months combined with the commentary that Bethesda has rights to publish console and mobile versions of Fallout in addition to the pc game makes it seem like this was just another land grab.

The "It's not Morrowind with guns!" line has already been started by Bethesda employees, so it's pretty obvious how they feel about it and how they know the project is going to be seen by Fallout fans. I liked Morrowind and its expansions - it ate up quite a bit of my time until I realized how dull and lifeless the game is. Not to mention how badly they mangled the NetImmerse engine..

Hmm, just saw this here: "You could make some fairly safe leaps of faith that it would be similar in style [to Morrowind].We're not going to go away from what it is that we do best. We're not going to suddenly do a top-down isometric Baldur's Gate-style game, because that's not what we do well."

That quote just ruined my day.

Oh holy crap. This could be good or bad. I'm not sure. See the main problems with morrowind is it was a HUGE LIFELESS WORLD. All of the dungeons were cookiecutter-esque, theres lots of land where basically nothing occured, there was barely a plot, and the ai was somewhat retarded.

If they took the graphics engine for morrowind, gave it a few touch ups, reinforced the rpg elements, added a way to utilize rpg/strategy type gunfire (as opposed to fps style), and added a great plot then this might be decent. I am just scared this won't happen...
