Fallout 3 scavenger problems...

So, i blew up a car near a scavenger. I didnt think it would be a problem that he attacked me afterward. However, i encountered another scavenger "in the area" and that fool attacked me too. When i fought back and killed him (and his dog) i got bad karma. Have i done something bad that all scavengers will now attack?

IIRC if you're KARMA is at a certain level you will constantly be attacked by scavengers. (Really good Karma causes this I think).

Did you know that your real life karma is effected by your in-game karma? Just some food for thought.

Interesting. So good karma causes those fools to attack? It seemed odd because the guy that i blew up with the car was friendly until i partially blew him up. Then a totally foreign scavenger attacked for no reason. Meh, to hell with it.

it also happens with BOS Outcasts.
i blew up a car next to one of them by mistake and now they will attack me onsite(i dont get a karma hit for it tho)

Really good karma doesn't make scavengers attack you. I have good karma and they never attack me. However, "evil" enemies will attack you without a second thought (Raiders, BoS outcasts, etc)

But if you're evil enough, then raiders don't attack you and you can talk with them (I think)

If you go to the BoS outcast base and supply them with enough parts/technology (50 i think) you will gain their trust and you can get into the base via lock pick OR pick pocket him without getting busted and nose around.....BUT once you leave the leader will attack you no matter what...if you don't want to have them all turn on you and shoot on sight in the capital wasteland, lead him away from the base and kill him out of sight or blow up a car when he is near it....no karma hit and you still have the BoS Outcasts as buddies.

Scavengers are a faction, members of the same group.

When you blew up a car next to a Scavenger the blast probably hurt the Scavenger making him turn hostile on you. Then when you fought back and killed him you became a hostile target to the entire faction.

this.

it's faction based karma

Scavengers can get hostile if you go to close when they are scavenging. Usually they give a warning. So keep away from whatever they are looting.
