Just found this game used at eb....gonna play it for the first time. But is the resolution really stuck so low? Anyway to change the res?

anything else I should know about the game from you fallout vets?

EDIT:

640x480? lol...I can barely even make out some of the graphics they are so bad:( My 19inch monitor makes the graphics look absolutley terrible...it really is unplayable like this:( If I can atleast get it in 800x600 I might be ok:)

The graphics aren't that bad. They can be a bit on the grainy side but I played them just fine on a 19" monitor.

did you play Baldur's Gate 2 or Icewind Dale at 800x600 or higher? The graphics were just as "bad" you just didn't notice as much because while the same amount of pixels were used for each person / weapon / etc. they just took up less of the screen.

Stop being an eye-candy whiner and enjoy one of the 5 best PC RPGs of all time ;)

Yea maybe your right...but still a 640x480 res lock even in 1998 is a little lame:(

even though...Ill go start it again right now and try and get into it:)

Try playing it on a smaller monitor. I have Fallout & Fallout2 loaded on my PII machine with a 15" monitor and ithe game looks fine to me.

They were selling as dual - Jewel cases from Interplay for ~$10 a while ago.

I know. That'll be my last resort since: a) I'd like to have the box & manual, b) Interplay sucks and I'd rather not give them my money.

the manuals make it totally worth the money (if you're into that kind of stuff). i guess i'm the kind of gamer that likes good, heavy manuals. a la baldur's gate series and icewind dale series. :D plus, the recipes at the back of the fallout ones are awesome. i wish i'd snagged them but i got the dual jc edition for a present. didn't really want to have two copies of the game around... (although it'd be nice!)

another  for the fallouts. black isle games are so awesome.

Don't forget to download the patch! There are some very time-consuming save bugs and things like that in the original version.

The only thing about it is that it will invalidate any saves you've already made. Awesome game, though. I hope you enjoy it.
