It's also appropriate again as corporations lay off loyal employees to offshore their jobs, and loot the pension funds of past employees to fund executive bonuses.

There used to be loyalty in both directions between a company and its employees, now anyone who trusts a company to do anything more than the law requires (if even that) is a fool.

it was way ahead of it's time as well... i watched it every couple of years since it came out, and it had a different effect on me each time due to the state of our economy at each time

No, I work at a small company for someone I do trust, but without the expectation of a "career" at the company that Douglas' character had been led to believe in.

I just understand why he did it, and wish cynicism wasn't now a survival trait in corporate America.

I remember when that movie came out... I'm from a NASA/defense/aerospace town, so people were interested in it :)
