Fall Foliage Picture Challenge

Ornery

Lifer
This is it. Northeast Ohio has hit peak color, and I'm going to make a point of capturing it. I know there are already about 5 billion pictures of fall foliage out there, but they aren't mine! I want a desktop quality image captured by myself, on my very own camera, of my very own neghborhood or park.

I also am strictly a "snap shooter". I just shoot mega quantities of of images at special events. I don't pose people, and I don't go for the "artsy" shot. I just shoot and shoot, trying to capture the moment. How cliche, eh? Well, this is different. I'm going after art type shots, and I'm going to give it everything I've got. Taking my tripod, flash, filters and using every trick I can to bring back the goods. I'm posting this now, so that I can't back out. I'll also challenge some of you to do the same when fall's colors roll around your area. Too late for New England, but the rest of you still have time.

Some of you just got new cameras, so now would be a good time to give them a test and post results. I'm going to put mine in a gallery. I already know they won't be DSLR quality, but I want to hone my composition skills, and the camera doesn't really factor into that... too much. 😉

If you already have pics from years gone by, let's see. As I said, I know there are already tons of fall pictures out there, but they're not ours! Post 'em if ya got 'em!

You are about two weeks late here in Eastern Iowa. A lot of the very vibrant colors have already passed. 🙁 Just on to the one-step-before-dead-yellow color now.

I'm sure there's a few still around. Maybe tomorrow I can do some shooting.

We've had unseasonably warm weather here, which delayed the change. Last week would have been OK for some areas around here, but it was raining and gloomy. Today is bright and awesome. I'm going for it!

We had some wacky unseasonal wather(cold - hot - cold) a few weeks back, and the trees got confused.. seems to be a rather un-even turn this fall. Seems like most of the trees are half ugly splotchy yellow and green.. lol

Three weeks ago it was in the 20's. Today it's going to be upwards of 80.

😕

Yep, some trees here are still green, some are half green-yellow, and others are completely bare 😕

I never really got into photographing the fall foliage. I took this the other day though in a little graveyard near my house.

Shame you cut the bottom of the tree off. The picture could use more forground.

Perfect.

Pic!

Taken 10/1/04 at Worlds End State Park, Sullivan County, PA. 🙂

Only one I found, which is strange since i've been in the mountains with the camera every weekend this month 😕
