Falcon Pro dev lied about resetting keys, got busted

Raging at Twitter now seems pointless, since the guy knew that his "resetting keys" announcement/trick was bullshit, and should have expected this outcome.

Am I reading this right? Twitter limits 3rd party apps to 100K users?

Based on the comments there, seems like this guy's app was pretty popular and good. Sounds like Twitter sucks more than the dev, who was trying to accommodate existing and potentially new users.

Twitter sucks if you're a third party dev. Even Microsoft's Windows 8 twitter app ran afoul of the 100k users rule. 🙄

They limit new apps. Old ones get twice the number they had at the time of the crackdown/announcement. I use Plume, which has been grandfathered in this way.

The dev KNEW he was limited when he started the app, and chose to try to bypass the restriction in a dishonest way. Twitter sucked then, but he sucks now.

I thought something was up the other day when I hadnt updated to the new version of falcon pro yet but I could still use everything just fine and I wasnt logged out. If he had actually reset the keys all versions of the app should have been forced to relogin.

The 100K token limit is stupid and doesnt serve any purpose besides forcing people onto the official app, which I assume includes ads somewhere.

I'm seriously surprised that there is a 100k token limit. Twitter really is trying to control how their website is used. I remember when it used to be amazing because of all the apps that connected to it.

This is limited to apps recreating the twitter experience--namely Twitter clients. There's still plenty of apps where you can share to twitter, etc. Yeah I realize it's bad that we can't use third party clients, but at least the stock Twitter client is pretty decent. It took them a while to get push notifications and a Holo layout, but at least its decent now.

I do miss using advanced apps where I can select the resolution of my pictures and where to upload to when tweeting, but I can put up with not having those features with the stock client.

But controlling 3rd party apps seems a bit harsh. Guess you have to be careful when running a business model that relies on another business.
